adding our two ¢ on the www…This ongoing project is a labor of interest, vision and simply hobby. The main point is to get the word out on current happenings as we journey into mission. It is also fun to try my hand at something so simple (and yet complex enough to contort my brain into strange shapes at times). A course at Skagit Valley College on web building had me convinced that http and hypertext being ftp’ed on an isp host was not for me!!

So what’s up with doing the www?
It is amazing what you can do with a passion to communicate! Currently my fingers get to play in three different web projects here at Bethany College of Mission. The Urban Evangelism site, Good in the ‘Hood and of course - Griffhome.com. What little you do know can get you into a load busyness!

Building with a plan/hope?
From the first thoughts about beginning this online project there has been a desire to go beyond just having our own little webpage. It is obvious that the www in the hands of missionary could mean much potential. And this despite the challenges and hair-losing processes one can get enmeshed with when trying to harness the www!

A bigger picture
My simple desire: to see tools put into the hands of mission people around the world to communicate more effectively with friends, family, co-workers, partnership ministries etc. In other words: mission people who don’t have the tools nor the hairs to spare could greatly benefit and move forward with increasing effectiveness through up-to-date communications technology designed and prepared for their use. I’m not sure where this desire will play out…

The next step
Currently a group of BCOM students are exchanging ideas about internship students and communication with eachother, family and friends, and of course - BCOM (feeding out studies and assignments while they are on internship!) The plan is to have something in place for each student soon. What that looks like is in the hamerring out stage…
