this is the town closest to Ephesus (Ephes), here are a few photos of life and some of the daily stuff. (Though it is a touristy part of Turkey you can still find some normal Turks)

Emperor Justinian (527-565 AD) believed that the tomb dating from the 300's was John's. In the 500's he built a large church above it.

Aya Sophia 08-06
Built around 500 AD one of the earliest and most impressive cathedrals standing today. Islamic take over has left its mark as the sanctuary was converted to Muslim worship overnight in 1453. Today it stands as a Museum - visited by both Muslim and Christian alike.
Week 1 Turkey 08-06
An awesome week on the Marmar coast near to Istanbul. I was ready to break out and get to see more of the real Turkey after this week.
